Hazel Photographers is proud to support The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale! “I may have graduated in 2005 but my heart never left!” Every semester Professor Steven Nestler’s Intro to Photography class always enjoys listening to Hazel share her experiences as a former student and success with her business. After inspiring words of wisdom, the remainder of the class time is dedicated to answering student questions. Hazel also enjoys speaking to more advanced classes about business skills and wedding marketing techniques. Hazel not only graciously participates as a guest speaker, but also offers an opportunity every semester for a few students to individually experience and shadow her for one wedding. Hazel photographers is committed to benefiting the photography community by offering internship programs. “It took me three months of emails and phone calls every other week to proudly earn the opportunity to shadow Hazel during a wedding. The next thing I knew I was on a flight with them to Las Vegas for the WPPI convention!! Hazel and Alex have been my mentors for over a year and a half and in that time I can proudly say that I am their friend and hard work is always recognized. Being a part of Hazel and Alex’s world has and will continue to shape and fine-tune me as a person and photographer.”

Working at Hazel Photographers has really improved my editing and retouching skills in terms of Lightroom and Photoshop. I can honestly say I had close to no retouching skills before I started working with Hazel and her team. It wasn’t that I hadn’t been taught, but using these regularly made them become second-nature to me. Also before working with Hazel Photographers I never had the opportunity to see how a consumer photography company operates, and being part of the process and of the team has really helped me envision how I would run my own company when the time comes. From the day I started working with Hazel I knew it would be a good learning experience.

Assisting for Hazel Photographers has been a tremendous learning experience. I’ve not only learned the basics to assisting, but I’ve also learned how to manage clients, and what it is they look for. Each session is a learning experience. I understand that practice is the only way to perfect one’s technique, and made me realize that couldn’t have picked a better career. When I see how far Hazel has come, it is an encouragement to what one can accomplish when you put your mind to it. Her style is inspiring and I enjoy assisting her.
